This mid-17th c. European dish-hilted broadsword is of massive proportions. It measures 114 cm. overall, with a 93 cm. long blade. Sword is very heavy at 2.2 kg. The pommel-grip-quillon block combo was cast in one piece, and there are two areas of fractures where the quillons diverge from the ricasso. The round cup is decorated with nude figures and foliage. Patina is nice and even. The very tip of the blade was sharpened at some point in time. Inside of the cup was painted black at one time, now the paint is flaking off. An interesting sword.
